Patient Resources

resources.jpgPatients interested in an opinion on treatment of prostate cancer can call 718-270-7190. Dr. Potters is available for consultation Monday through Friday and will make every effort to accommodate patients in a timely manner.

No patient can be treated without a consultation and it is strongly advised that additional opinions on treatment management be made until such time a patient is comfortable with his decision and his physicians.

It is the philosophy of the New York Prostate Institute that patients be comfortable with their treatment decision based on current data and information. While this web site serves as a resource, nothing is better than a face to face discussion with a physician. As the treatment opinions are varied and the choices confusing, please prepare for your consultation by writing down questions that are important to you.

Important questions you need answered by your doctor before being treated:
- Understanding my treatment options?
- How many seed implants have you done, and how often do you do them?
- Do you present or publish your data?
- If not, how do you know if you are achieving success similar to national experts?
- What side effects can I expect and what is the treatment for them?
- What is the role for combination therapy -- Hormone Therapy and/or External Beam Radiation along with the seeding and if so, why?
- What type of results should I expect to see with treatment and how can I tell that my treatment was successful?
